Hannah Gets a Letter From the Victim Witness Unit...

...which temporarily freaks out her mother.

Re: United States v. Andrew Walsh

Dear Hannah Kellogg:

Your name was forwarded to our office by law enforcement as a victim (or potential victim) in the above mentioned criminal case ....

The investigation into this matter has revealed that you are a likely victim of the scheme alleged in the indictment. According to the indictment, the defendant would steal contents of U.S. Mail, namely gift cards and U.S. currency from greeting cards, during mail processing at the Baltimore Processing and Distribution Center....during the period of August, 2009 through April, 2010.

WHEW!!  She is a victim of mail theft.  That, I can live with.   If anyone mailed her anything and never got a "thank you"  from me (would have been verbally since I have yet to send out thank you cards for the baby shower and am therefore the worst thank you card sender on the planet....), please tell me because we can file for restitution. I'm sure no one sent anything that pricey, but if you did, let me know.

  4. Today I received the same letter. Connected with the care returned to you maybe? I am assuming nothing was in the card or you would have told me.

  5. Hmmm...you know, we sent you that birthday card a couple of times and you said you never received it, so maybe that's what he intercepted. But no, nothing was in it.

And mom, I don't know who Andrew Walsh is--assuming he is a postal employee if he was hanging around the processing unit.

  6. Maybe I could claim emotional distress since he prevented my special birthday cards from coming (just kidding).

  7. You know, I saw this on the news a few weeks ago - a postal employee at the main post office in downtown Baltimore was arrested for stealing gifts cards out of birthday cards. The news interviewed a cute little old lady who had a birthday card intercepted that she was trying to send to her grandson. Crazy. Have you googled his name to see if he is the same culprit?? Its a shame you can't even trust the mail anymore :(
