Stepping Out

I was hoping I'd get around to posting pics from our mini vaca this weekend but since I just finished editing them and it's already after 9:00, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Maybe tomorrow.  In the meantime, Hannah, now in her 11th month, has had some fun new developments worth writing home about.  Firstly and bestly, she took 3 steps and she did it 3 times.  How cool is that???  The first time was at the condo where we stayed this past weekend.  Eric's friend's dad (condo owner) has this super fluffy green rug in the living room. Well, maybe not fluffy, more like...I don't know how to describe it...three-dimensional? Obviously all stuff is...Anyway, Hannah took off across that thing and made it three steps before folding over onto her rump.  Abby, Eric's friend's wife, said that their first son, Jack, started walking the very day they moved into a carpeted apartment (old place had hardwoods).  We do have hardwoods on one of our floors, and the carpet on the other two is berber so it may as well be hardwood, so maybe a softer surface would be more conducive to walking.  The second time she walked was on Monday when we got home. For some reason we were downstairs playing in the guest room, and Eric let go of her hands while she was standing on the bed there, and she took off. Step, step, step, plop. The third time was today at the pool. I guess the water helped with that whole gravity thing.

Other new things Hannah is doing:

1. Waving, pretty constantly though I'm not sure if she's doing it to say "hello" or "goodbye" or "hey you, look what I can do!"
2. Dipping her spoon into her bowl of food, sometimes managing to scoop some food up, then bringing said spoon to her mouth for a bite.  The food itself often falls off the spoon before she makes it to her mouth, but she has the spoon to bowl to mouth process pretty down pat.
3. Whining. A lot.
4. Putting it in reverse.  She figured out that to get down from something (couch, bed, stairs), feet first is your safest bet.  She wiggles herself around so her legs are dangling over the edge of the couch or bed and then she lets herself slide slowly off.  We are always there to spot the sliding--don't think she could do it yet without a spot--but I love that she learned the concept and can put it into action with a helping hand.

That's all I have.  Goal for tomorrow: post pics and stories of Hannah's first vacation.
